Lake City - Udaipur, Rajasthan, India

Udaipur is one of the most admired place in India. It comes under Rajasthan and one of the most popular tourist destination in India. Its is surrounded by the low rise Aravalli mountain ranges and has some of the popular lakes in Rajasthan. It's around 650 kms from New Delhi and around 800 kms from Mumbai. Udaipur is well connected with road, rail and air through all major parts of India. Best time to visit this city is September to March where temperature is between 7 degree to 32 degree.


Below are the recommended places to visit in Udaipur for 2 days:
Day 1
City Palace: Udaipur City Palace is the biggest palace in the state of Rajasthan. Entry ticket is Rs. 30 (For general area) and Rs. 300 to enter inside palace with museum.

Jagadish Temple:
Jagadish temple is one of the oldest and renowned temple in Udaipur. Temples are open from as early as 6 am in the morning till noon, and then reopen from 4 pm in the evening. Not many people comes here so you don't face any crowd problem (It's safe) only thing is that you have to climb around 60-70 stairs to reach here, its archistructure is marvelous:IMG20181019162439.jpgAt Jagdish Temple

Lake Pichola:
Lake Pichola is one of the main attraction of Udaipur. You can hire a boat from here to take a ride on Lake Pichola. Boating here costs anything between 150-250 for normal people. If you want to have exclusive boat ride (For Jag Mandir) it will cost you around Rs. 6000/- and than can be booked from the City Palace. Between the Lake there is a small island where there is a restaurant and there you can have dinner and the same can be booked at the City Palace only with prior reservation.and you can watch the mesmerizing sunset into the horizon. The lake provides a amazing view of the palace and surrounding buildings.

Boat ride takes around 15 minutes to complete and from the lake itself you can see many things like City Palace, Amet Haveli, Taj Lake Palace, Ambrai Ghat, Leela Palace, Udaivilas, Jagmandir and the most important SUNSET. You can check-out my video as well Lake Pichola, Udaipur

Bagore ki Haveli:
Bagore ki Haveli is a museum, earlier it was an ancient Haveli (royal residence). It is within walkable distance from City Palace. It has over 100 rooms that have costumes, artifacts and other items on display. The weapons used during the ancient battles are displayed here. Various objects used in the Haveli is displayed here in hundreds of rooms.

Day 2
Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh Fort):
This is one of the best place to visit in Udaipur, that is Monsoon Palace Sajjangarh Fort. Sunset from here is too awesome. Entry to the palace is Rs. 10 for Indians & Rs. 80 for foreigners. Vehicle which takes you to the palace from the main gate (4.5 kms) costs Rs. 90 for return journey/person and I will recommend you if you are coming here please come by your own car / or whole hired taxi (Rs. 200 as entry & parking fee). Fateh Sagar Lake:

Shilpgram:
This is again one of the best place to visit in Udaipur, it's very near to the Sajjangarh Fort & Fateh Sagar Lake. The have all the things you want to know about Rajasthan and its culture. From village life, ethnic dresses, local shopping, folk dance, folk songs, handicrafts, puppet show, etc at a entry cost of Rs. 50/- only. Please do visit this place if you want to know the culture of Rajasthan and neighbouring states. You can typically spend 3 hours here easily, must try the local dishes here.

Sahelion ki Bari:
It was constructed by the king for his daughter, where she can spend her times with her servants (as friends), it's very beautiful and also one of the must visit place. It's crowded than other places but it's worth to see. Karni Mata Temple:
This is a hindu temple on the top of the hill. The view from this place is awesome. From Karni Mata Temple you can see entire Udaipur City, Lake Pichola, Sajjangarh Fort and beyond it as well, it's a worth place to come to. You can access this temple by climbing stairs which takes around 15-30 minutes depending on your strength or you can take the Rope way which is open 9 am to 9 pm and costs around Rs. 120/- for return journey. But you need to wait for your turn as it has a capacity to take 6 people on each cab. It has total 3 cabs each side. The ropeway is near to City Palace and walkable distance from Lake Pichola boating point.

About our Trip:
We started our journey from Gurugram/Gurgaon railway station. We took Chetak Express Train (3rd A/C coach) around night 20:15 which costed us Rs. 1000/person (This price is same for foreigners as well. Please note that tickets should be booked well in advance)

and we reached Udaipur railway station next morning around 7:30. We took autorickshaw (Rs. 100/-) and reached to our hotel Janak villa, which was per-booked at Rs. 1000/- including breakfast. IMG20181019100848.jpgRajasthani wall painted on the corridor of our hotel.IMG20181019082446.jpgRoom view of our hotel it had AC, TV, Geyser, small Fridge, Almira, Side Table. All at the cost of Rs. 1000/- for twin-sharing room with breakfast.

It costs Rs. 120 for two paneer paratha. It's more than enough for one person. Rest you have already seen above.

Travelling:
We travelled every place by auto rickshaw as it's available easily and as it's not a very big city so you can travel most of the place under Rs. 150 only.

Extra:

Back to Delhi:

Again we took Humsafar Train which has 3 A/c coaches only around night 23:55

Total trip cost us including food, tickets, transport, etc for 2 person + one child under Rs. 10,000/- ($ 144 USD or 125 Euro).
